no gremo drugič: bi kdo šel?

The first edition of the international motorcycling show ì MOMI ñ motorcycles & legends: passion and spectacleî * is off to a flying start. The event will be held in Pesaro from the 11 th to the 14 th of November 2004 on 200 thousand square metres of covered and open-air exhibition space at the Campanara exhibition centre.

The show, conceived and organised by Graziano Rossi and Massimo Falcioni and managed by them together with other international professionals from the sector on behalf of ìFiere Pesaro Spaî, is the response to a tendency within the motoring world, in particular that on two wheels, which is making its mark in today's society: practical, yet giving pleasure and enjoyment, dictating trends, building dreams and creating legends. And not only, the motorcycle also captures markets and creates business.

MOMI, a totally new concept in the world of motoring, is a long-term event by ìFiere di Pesaro Spaî held in collaboration with a number of various institutions and associations: Camera di Commercio di Pesaro e Urbino (Pesaro and Urbino Chamber of Commerce), Regione Marche (The Marches Region), Provincia di Pesaro e Urbino (The Province of Pesaro and Urbino), Comune di Pesaro (The City of Pesaro), Comune di Fano (The City of Fano), Banca delle Marche, Banca Popolare dell'Adriatico, Assindustria, API, CNA, Confartigianato, CASA Metaurense, UPA, CIA, Coldiretti, ALI - CLAAI, Confcommercio, Confesercenti.

Official partners for the occasion: F.I.M.( International Motorcycling Federation) and F.M.I. (Italian Motorcycling Federation), with organisational contribution by MOTO CLUB ìE. LAZZARINIî of Pesaro and the prestigious partnership of AIL, the non-profit making Italian organisation for research into Leukaemia.

The event has been officially sponsored by numerous famous names, starting with the Italian Government through its Production Ministry.

MOMI will be held in an open-air arena of over 150,000 square metres and in six covered pavilions of over 40,000 square metres.

Eight circuits will be used to stage a variety of races and demonstrations: Rally test drives , Supermotard , Karts , Minibikes , Quads, Freestyle, Vintage Motorcycle Grand Prix, production bike tests, etc.

Just as prestigious will be the initiatives held indoors in the pavilions of Campanara. One of these is the ìPIT WALKî, with its true-to-life reconstruction of the paddocks of the various 2004 world championships: world motorcycling championship, Motorcycle GP, SBK, Supermotard, Motocross, etc. There will also be exhibition space dedicated to manufactures of motorcycles, clothing, accessories, etc., exhibition markets, meetings, displays, film shows of famous events, meetings with riders, team managers and sports journalists.

In short, MOMI is passion, quality and participation, the home par-excellence of motorcycling events, and the first occasion to interpret, represent and re-launch the true identity of the world of two wheels.

WHY PESARO

And why not: today, when we talk about Pesaro , we are also talking about Valentino Rossi. This is the city where the world champion grew up, and where motorcycling has reigned supreme for almost a hundred years with the famous Benelli, a winner both in the market and on the racetrack since 1911. Valentino, therefore, is not alone in bringing fame to the city.

It all started with Tonino Benelli, four times world champion and world record holder between the 1920's and 30's on his 175, dominating all the racing circuits of that era. Then, at the end of the 1930's there was Ted Mellors, who rode to victory in the English Tourist Trophy with his 250 cc Pesaro built machine.

After the war, the world championship once again returned to Pesaro with the 250 Benelli of Dario Ambrosini.

The 1950's saw the success of the legendary Benelli ìLeoncinoî in the endurance races (Giro d'Italia - Tour of Italy and Milan Taranto). Benelli returned to the Grand Prix circuits in the sixties with Silvio Grassetti who rode his 4-cylinder 250 to victory on its first time out. Then there are the big names: Tarquinio Provini, Renzo Pasolini and Kel Carruthers who, in 1969, won the 250 world championship and the Tourist Trophy.

The appearance of the undisputed champions Mike Hailwood and Jarno Saarinen on the four-cylinder Benelli 350 and 500 is absolutely unforgettable.

And not only: thanks to the efforts of constructors (in particular, the prestigious Morbidelli and MBA, winning World and National Championships in many countries), teams, riders, organisers, managers, clubs, technicians, mechanics, professionals, journalists, photographers and dedicated fans, Pesaro has no equal in the world of motorcycling.

And it is for these reasons, from the Benelli of yesteryear to the Valentino Rossi of today, that Pesaro can be considered as the ìcapitalî of motorcycling and the ideal city in which to hold such a new grand international event.

THE STARS OF MOMI

Guests of honour at MOMI. World champions on two wheels, and not only, will be present at the Pesaro show.

First of all the legend of all times, the only person ever to have won the world championship on four as well as two wheels.

To inaugurate MOMI, there can be no other than John Surtees , world champion on numerous occasions, riding the official MV on which he won seven world championships.

There will be other big names from the past riding alongside this unique champion astride the most prestigious competition bikes ever built.

MOMI will also bring to the circuit the champions of today (with the supermotard, karts, autorally, etc.), stars of the 2004 world championships as well as new hopes for both Italian and international motorcycling.

MOMI will bring together bikes and riders who collectively have won over 100 World Championships! A record to beat all records! A unique spectacle!
