1628 – RODIL SE JE MARCELLO MALPHIGI

Utemeljitelj mikroskopske anatomije Marcello Malphigi se je rodil na današnji dan leta 1628. Malphigi pa je z mikroskopom prikazal obstoj kapilar in prehajanje rdeče krvi v modro. Od takrat naprej se je v priznani medicini učvrstila, zakoreninila miselnost, da je srce nekakšna črpalka.

1772 – RODIL SE JE FRIDERICH SCHLEGEL

Nemški pisatelj, filozof in filolog Friderich Schlegel se je rodil na današnji dan leta 1772. Veljal je za odličnega kritika in je imel velik vpliv na nemško romantično literaturo. Utemeljil je zgodnjeromantični pogled na svet in umetnostna načela.

1856 – RODIL SE JE FERDINAND SEIDL

Slovenski naravoslovec Ferdinand Seidl se je rodil na današnji dan leta 1856. Velja za utemeljitelja slovenske geologije in geološke terminologije. Naravoslovec Ferdinand Seidl je bil rojen 10. marca 1856 v Novem mestu, kjer je obiskoval meščansko šolo ter gimnazijo, v Gradcu pa je na filozofski fakulteti študiral prirodopis, matematiko in fiziko. Umrl je pri starosti 86 let leta 1942. Seidl slovi kot eden najpomembnejših slovenskih naravoslovcev, je avtor številnih knjig in znanstvenih razprav, predvsem s področja geologije, pa tudi meteorologije, seizmologije ter botanike. Na njegovo pobudo je bil vrh Gorjancev poimenovan "Trdinov vrh" ter tamkaj tudi zaščiten studenec Gospodična. Med njegovimi številnimi deli velja omeniti "Kamniške in Savinjske Alpe, njih zgradba in njih lice", to je prva slovenska knjiga s področja splošne geologije, "Rastlinstvo naših Alp", "Moderna izobrazba" ter seveda "Avtobiografija".

1892 – RODIL SE JE ARTHUR HONEGGER

Skladatelj Arthur Honegger se je izobraževal v Zurichu in Parizu. Opus del, ki jih je ustvaril obsega filmske skladbe, oratorije, antične opere do komorne glasbe v različnih zasedbah. Največji uspeh je dosegel z oratorijem Ivana na grmadi, že pred tem pa je pozornost vzbudil z oratorijem Le Roi David in kratkim orkestralni delom Pacifik 231. Arthur Honeger se je rodil na današnji dan leta 1892.

1940 – UMRL JE MIHAIL BULGAKOV

V Moskvi je umrl ruski pripovedni in dramatik Mihail Afanasijevič Bulgakov. Rodil se je 15. maja 1891 v Kijevu. Njegova najpomembnejša dela so Bela garda, Mojster in Margareta, Zojkino stanovanje, Škrlatni otok in druga, ki so bila javnosti po večini dosegljiva šele po leta 1960.

1985 – UMRL JE KONSTANTIN ČERNENKO

V CK Sovjetske zveze se je še enkrat uveljavila stara garda in izvolila za generalnega sekretarja 72-letnega Konstantina Černenka, ki je bil že takrat slabega zdravja. Med enoletnim vodenjem Černenko ni izoblikoval nobene izrazite usmeritve, saj se zadnje mesece pred smrtjo skorajda ni več pojavljal v javnosti. Novi partijski voditelj si že prve tedne po prevzemu položaja utrdi oblast z Sovjetske zveze obsežnimi čistkami med funkcionarji. V Moskvi so, dan po njegovi smrti, 11. marca 1985 soglasno izvolili 54-letnega Mihaela Sergejeviča Gorbačova za novega generalnega sekretarja partije.

DOGODKI

1876 – PRVE BESEDE, IZREČENE PO TELEFONU

10. marca 1876 je Alexander Graham Bell prek telefona v nekaj oddaljenih sob poklical asistenta in mu sporočil naslednje besede: “Mr. Watson, pridite sem, rad bi vas videl.” Napravo so predstavili na razstavi v Philadelphiji ob stoletnici razglasitve neodvisnosti. Kmalu po njej se je začela telefonska industrija in v petindvajsetih letih je imel vsak petdeseti človek v Ameriki svoj telefon.

1910 – ODPRAVA SUŽENJSTVA NA KITAJSKEM

Na Kitajskem so 10. marca 1910 odpravili suženjstvo.

1959 – DALAJ LAMA V IZGNANSTVU

Tibetanski voditelj Dalaj Lama je 10. marca 1959 odšel v izgnanstvo v Indijo, kjer je nadaljeval boj zoper kitajsko oblast v Tibetu. Leta 1956 je ob 2500 letnici rojstva Bude Šakjamunija obiskal Indijo. Srečal se je tudi z Nehrujem, vendar v njem ni našel podpore.

1974 – PREDAJA HIRA ONDE

Hira Onda, ki se je kar 29 let skrival v pragozdu v prepričanju, da druga svetovna vojna še traja, se je predal filipinskim oblastem.

Rodil se je britanski misionar in raziskovalec Črne celine, David Livingston. Na svojih raziskovanjih je odkril porečje Zambezija z Viktorijinimi slapovi, jezeri Njasa In Tanganjika. Umrl je 1.5.1873 v Zambiji.

V Erfurtu v takratni NDR sta se sestala na prvem mednemškem vrhunskem sestanku vzhodnonemški predsednik ministrskega sveta Willi Stoph in zahodnonemški kancler Willy Brandt. To srečanje pomeni začetek procesa normalizacije odnosov med obema državama.
