Camier ruled out of Aragon World Superbike race

FIXI Crescent Suzuki’s Leon Camier will be forced to miss the rest of this weekend’s eni FIM Superbike World Championship event at Motorland Aragon in Spain due to the injuries he sustained in a huge crash on Saturday.

Camier high-sided during the first qualifying session on Saturday afternoon and suffered severe trauma to his left knee in the accident. After initial inspection at the track, he was immediately taken to Alcaniz hospital where the injury was assessed and operated on soon after. The procedure was successful and Camier will now need to spend a minimum of five days in a splint while the wound heals. He is hoping to be fit for the next round at Assen in two weeks’ time and will begin his recuperation as soon as he is released from hospital later today.

FIXI Crescent Suzuki will make further announcements on the condition of Camier and his progression to full fitness, as more news becomes available.

Leon Camier:

“To be in the hospital and kept away from the race due to a flesh wound is boring and extremely frustrating to say the least. Having said that, I guess I should be thankful that nothing is broken as it was a pretty big impact. My frustration is made so much worse because the bike was feeling good, the lap-time was coming easily and I know we could have had a good fight this weekend.

“I’ll be doing everything I can to be back at Assen, it all depends on how the surgery heals. I just hope our luck changes and that we can get back out there to give the team a result.”

Jules Cluzel has given a downbeat Fixi Crescent Suzuki team a welcome boost following Superpole at Motorland Aragon after securing an unexpected second row start in fifth place.

With the team reeling from Leon Camier's accident during Q1, the Briton sustaining an injury that has sidelined him for the remainder of the weekend, attention turned to sole remaining Suzuki rider Cluzel to see if he could pick up where his counterpart had left off.

Assuming the role of team leader with aplomb, Cluzel was able to make the SP3 session comfortably before putting in a lap good enough to secure a spot in the middle of the second row alongside fellow Frenchmen Sylvain Guintoli and Loris Baz.

A boon for both Cluzel and the Suzuki team, the 2012 World Supersport runner-up was delighted to show his progress when it mattered.

"I am very happy with the whole of today; the practice and qualifying session went well and so did Superpole,” he said.” This morning we did a long run with the race tyre and we have more information and it was good for me to get more of a feeling over a longer distance. 

“Before Superpole I was very nervous because it was my first time, but at the end everything came good so I am really pleased with that. In the first exit we were panicking a bit because although I improved my time it was not enough to make Superpole 2, so we had to use the first qualifying tyre. I improved a lot and this was my first experience with qualifiers so I enjoyed that very much. 

“We did have some vibration, but I think that everyone had that because there was so much more grip. We used a race tyre in the second session and I did an even faster lap than I did with the qualifier, so for me this is the really good point from the whole of Superpole. 

“In the last run I improved again; I think it might have been possible to go quicker but I made a couple of mistakes on the lap, including a big one in the first corner, so I had to push because the qualifier only lasts for one lap. But I still improved again so I am very happy with that. We will start both races from fifth place and I enjoyed today, so this has been a high point of the weekend so far."

Zelo Cudni casi. Checa je z 1198 lani krog odpeljal 1:58:01, Rea 1:58:03. Sykes jebil hitrejsi kot lani, torej je pista to omogocala...Skoda da Honda in Ducati nista cist konkurencna.

Ja res je bil mal čudn vikend, nism glih nevem kako navdušen nad dirko in razpletom, dogajalo se je skoraj manj kot na moto gp ... Rea je res dobr, sm očitno so vsi tako navili mašine da res letijo sm zgleda da bo pa zato letos toliko več ničl zaradi crkovanja mašin ....

tud slepe kure ne povozi cist vsakic ko gre cez cesto

dirk se nism mel casa pogledat...mal prebiram in se cudim stevilkam. Ocitno je panigale res v zgodnj razvojni fazi. Checa je lani z 1098 dosegel 312Km/h. Z Panigale samo 307,5. da je use skup se bol cudno, La Marra je stock 1000 nagnal do 309Km/h.

jst sem včeraj zvečer pogledal obe dirki, pa res nista bili posebej divji (kot ponavadi), največji osmoljenec je zagotovo Laverty, dvojni DNF, čeprav je umrlo tudi nekaj drugih mašin (BMW, Ducati, Kawasaki) našemu je pa kr šlo

 

najbolj me je presenetil pogled na skupno razvrstitev tovarn: po 4 dirkah je Ducati na zadnjem mestu   in Karlos pravi da je to maximum, kar lahko doseže z Ducatijem ta hip...

Očitno je tej zasnovi agregata to trenutni maksimum,pri Ducatiu. Že to je čudno, da je pri 1199 Panigale R, agregat enako močan, kot spri osnovnemu modelu. Pri 1098 modelu, je bilo pri R verziji, kar nekaj dodatne konjenice.
